In today’s digital landscape, patients increasingly receive medical information directly through social media, online communities, and AI-powered tools.
Moreover, many will turn to these platforms before ever engaging with traditional healthcare systems.
While these technologies have the potential to improve access to knowledge and empower families, they also raise critical concerns regarding accuracy, trust, equity, and ethical implementation.
Artificial Intelligence vs. Intelligence Amplified:
Empowering Families with Knowledge through Connection and Technology
The National Perinatal Association’s 2027 Conference will bring together clinicians, researchers, advocates, policymakers, and families to explore one of the most pressing questions in modern healthcare: how emerging technologies -- particularly artificial intelligence and digital information platforms -- are reshaping how patients and their families access, understand, and participate in perinatal care.
Through interdisciplinary dialogue and collaborative problem-solving, we'll explore innovative ways to bridge the gap between traditional healthcare delivery and emerging digital tools.
Sessions will highlight strategies for ensuring that technological advancements enhance -- not undermine -- equitable access to reliable information, high-quality care, and meaningful patient-provider partnerships that will amplify connection, compassion, and informed decision-making for families.

Together, we will consider how to harness the power of technology
while preserving the human relationships at the heart of perinatal care.
We invite clinicians, researchers, technologists, advocates, and families to join us in shaping a future where knowledge, connection, and innovation work together to empower healthier beginnings for every family. JOIN US.

Our 2027 Learning Objectives:
-
Examine the evolving digital information ecosystem in perinatal care. Explore how social media, online communities, and AI-driven platforms are influencing where families seek information and how this affects trust, decision-making, and patient-provider relationships.

-
Evaluate the role of artificial intelligence in clinical care and patient education. Assess emerging AI tools used in diagnosis, care delivery, and patient information, with attention to safety, accuracy, ethics, and regulatory considerations.

-
Promote “intelligence amplification” through human–technology collaboration. Highlight models where technology enhances -- not replaces -- the expertise of clinicians and the lived experiences of families to improve outcomes.

-
Address equity and access in the digital health landscape. Identify strategies to ensure that technological innovation reduces disparities rather than widening gaps in perinatal care access, information quality, and health outcomes.

-
Build partnerships between healthcare systems, technologists, and families. Foster collaboration across disciplines to develop responsible digital tools and communication strategies that center the needs and voices of perinatal families.
